Get Ready to Meet Mario Yet Again
Fans of Italian plumber Mario are given a new chance to join the hero on his adventures. Mr Mario’s Adventures promises new thrills in a brand new take on the incredibly popular platform game. Is this really something new, or simply a new format to an old favourite? Read on to find out.
People who are familiar with Mario is all his colourful pixilated glory will instinctively know how to play the game. Gamers can control the character as he makes his way through platform levels, collecting coins and beating the bad guys. The sound effects are well rendered that the game plays out in exactly the way you would expect.
And that is exactly the main problem with the game: familiarity. Despite the promise of new obstacles and challenges, there really isn’t too much different about this Mario instalment and anything that has come before. Despite this, the game play is still fun and addictive and there are plenty of retro touches that older gamers are sure to enjoy.
There are lots of different levels to the game, providing gamers with hours of fun. Although the game does not really get any more difficult or challenging as players advance, the game is addictive and simple enough to keep players coming back for more. Anyone who has been living in a cave for the last decade or and has never met Mario before will instantly fall in love with this daring and very engaging character as he leaps, hops and races his way across the screen.
Mr Mario’s Adventures promises lots of new enemies to fight and new puzzles to solve. Players will quickly realise that this is a lavish exaggeration. Sure, some of the bad guys look a little different at first glance, but they move in exactly the same way as the other baddies and they can be taken out in the same way too.
There is such as thing as too much of a good thing, and Mr Mario’s Adventures proves that very well. The game content is just as uninspired and unoriginal as the title itself and while the game provides plenty of fun Mario elements, there really is nothing new to see or do here.
Pros
- Mario is bad in all his glory
- Lots of levels and puzzles to solve
- Good graphics

Cons
- Nothing new here
- The repetitive game play is a bit of a letdown
